endings & beginnings....

Our last weekend of summer break....started off with a tour of Benjamin's new school, dropping off school supplies & meeting his new teacher. The building has been under construction all summer long, so we were thrilled to finally get to see the finished product. Nice! Then we had a getaway in San Antonio....swimming & relaxing & nursing colds. I hadn't planned on the last part, but anyway we made the most of the mini vacation.

meeting his kindergarten teacher...21 in his class...a total of 5 kindergarten classes in his school.

Enjoying the waterslides with Daddy. Benjamin actually went down this waterslide solo at least 3 times, but Russell was always at the bottom waiting to assist him as he literally flew out...so I couldn't get a good picture. Anyway, he had a blast!

You can see the outdoor slide behind them....the starting point was 2/3rds the way up the windmill. The trees hide most of the slide.

4th of July

A quiet, relaxing time for us....swimming, cream slushes from Sonic, early morning walk/ride on the trail, getting ready for our next trip. We are usually gone over the 4th, so it was a nice change to be home this year.

Memory Lane Monday: Little Swimmers

swimming lessons Summer 1981

This weekend we had some good laughs watching Mom & Dad's old movies of us cousins (A&A, DD&B) jumping, swimming, splashing, & dunking at our lessons.

[Lori - I believe this is the same pool where the twins had swimming lessons last summer]

last day of swimming lessons - doing something "fun" but they all look so serious!

a Texas size fish!

Benjamin & I had races going down the water slides at the hotel last week...it was super fun!

We nearly had the place to ourselves & it was fun to be a kid again.

I have a feeling Trevin is going to be a great swimmer someday. He just loves the water & doesn't seem to mind water all over his face when he makes huge splashes.

eventful weekend

Our weekend started off wonderfully -
Russell came back from Washington DC with lots of goodies & inspiration from the Microsoft World Conference.

I had the wonderful surprise of winning a gift certificate from Becca's 2nd blogiversary. I know just what I'm going to get - check out www.shopgussy.com
Thanks Becca!!!

We had a fun evening swimming at Mom & Dad's pool. Ahhh...there is nothing like getting in the water to relax - even with 2 active boys. Fortunately Mom & Dad were with us, so we took turns watching B&T.

Then Saturday, our upstairs ac went *out* and my neck started giving me problems again...meanwhile I was preparing for a busy Sunday & getting ready for Russell to be gone again. What happened to our relaxing weekend?

Fortunately on Monday everything got "fixed" - the ac, my neck, & my sanity.
Hopefully the rest of the week isn't quite so eventful.

Busy days

Daddy, we've been busy since you've been gone. We can't wait to show you everything we've learned...

discovering how to use a hammer
loving his lessons

gasing up the mower & mowing the lawn...

trying to escape...

Our fish

These pictures describe our swimming fun this summer - very independent & all smiles. Benjamin has gotten a bit braver about "dunking" once he has his swim goggles on. We love to relax in the pool in the evenings and it helps me sleep better at night too.

Splash!

There is no better place to spend a warm, sunny day than at the swimming pool. Benjamin and I have enjoyed pool time several mornings this week. Benjamin told me this week that "the kiddie pool is not for kitties, just kids"! He absolutely loves to splish, splash, dunk, "swim" in the little kiddie pool. His favorite pool toy is a little dolphin. He makes it do all kinds of tricks - mimicking Shamu's performance at Sea World.

Outdoor Fun

Our Memorial Day weekend was very relaxing. We enjoyed swimming at Nana & Papa's pool (even though they are gone on "big plane to Ideeho"), bike ride Saturday morning, naps everyday, lunch with our workers on Sunday after mtg, hamburgers & visiting with great G&G at the conv grounds after gospel meeting, a quick trip to Sam's Club this morning(which was so quiet & empty!!), gardening, & setting up B's new little pool in our back yard. Thank goodness for the little canopy that gives a little shade since we don't have our covered back porch yet.

Enjoying a beautiful evening at the ballpark
