8 is Great!

Happy Birthday to our Benjamin!  I can't believe he's 8.  8 short years have flown by in nearly the blink of an eye.  In his opinion, nothing is better than a giant Round Rock donut, so we brought a big one plus several dozen to share at workday/preps....which happened to be his very birthday.  When he looked at the calendar last month & realized that his birthday fell on a workday, he was beyond happy.  He told me that this was going to be the best birthday ever.

For his birthday supper, he requested a great Mexican restaurant...Mesa Rosa.

Happy 8th Birthday, Benjamin!  You just told me tonight that next year on your birthday YOU are going to write ME a card because that is the day I gave birth to you.  And you said you are so thankful to be in our family.  How sweet!

Welcoming Sweet T

In the midst of September we hosted a Sip & See for a good friend from our Sunday morning meeting.  Joanna & Wayne have 3 boys...and now a GIRL.  I believe her addition makes 17 kids in our Sunday morning meeting (middle school age or younger).  I had some great help from my Mom & Joanna's sister, Jenny.  Thanks for all who came to meet Taylor.

More Celebrations

Our special friend/"auntie" shares a birthday with Trevin.  So it was especially fun to be a part of Melanie's surprise birthday party.  We had a delicious potluck & BINGO extraordinare game(designed by her husband) which made for a very memorable evening.

Later that week, we ate MORE cake after Wednesday night meeting for both of the boys' birthdays.

Reading his cards from his grandparents, cousins, aunties/uncles, & friends...

Just remember

When the days are long & my feet a bit weary,
I want to remember & feel the simple joy that I am loved.

Happy Birthday Trevin!

My Labor Day boy has turned 4!  His birthday didn't fall on Labor Day this year, but Labor Day fell on his real birth day when I "labored" 2 hours for him!  I remember watching the nurses move very, very quickly when they figured out that I wasn't joking...about being in labor.

I don't know his stats yet (We see the dr this Wednesday), but he seems pretty big for a 4 year old.  Partly because he tries to do everything Benjamin does & partly because he is nearly out of 4t clothes.  For nearly 6 months now he has been requesting a penguin cake & sharing it with Nanny, Papa & Grandma Burnette.  So, his wish was granted.  I'm not sure why I decided his cake had to be an ice cream/frozen cake, but this certainly doesn't work well in early September in Texas...it is just too hot.  So, we had a rapidly melting, dripping, messy cake on our hands.  Especially since we took it up to Grandma's house (45 minutes in a cooler didn't keep it quite frozen).  All in all it was a happy celebration.  Good memories, cute penguins, & silly grins.

Marching Season has begun

At the beginning of marching season we went to watch the local high school's band perform for the first time this season.  2 of the professing kids are marching for the band & Benjamin even got to go down on the field & march with Alison at the end of the show.  He absolutely loved it.  There was a certain little boy in the bleachers that did NOT love it.  Oh how we hate being left out.

50 years together...

We drove to Cameron on 8/16 for Uncle Jim & Aunt Gwen's 50th wedding anniversary celebration.  They are a special couple to us in so many ways.  We had such a great evening...the boys won't stop talking about feeing the horses, climbing the fence to get into the cow pasture, eating cake, making s'mores, going down into a real basement, & jumping on the trampoline with friends.  Ahh...the simple things in life.
