Cranberry Bliss Bars

And the winner is...
I've poured through pinterest & the web to find an easy, delicious, festive cookie recipe for the teachers at Benjamin's school. Next week, 65 parents are bringing in 3 dozen cookies each. The coordinators will divide & box them up so each teacher can take home a boxful of cookies for the holidays. I love the idea! Since I'm working some next week as well as starting on our painting project, I wanted something quick. These bars are amazing. (disclaimer - I've never bought the Cranberry Bliss Bars from Starsbucks although they look tempting. So, I can't compare.) My taste testers, adult & child alike, loved this recipe that I'm sharing.

a host of smiles - Dec 2012

Happy 7th birthday to some of our best buddies - Mason & Chase!  What a great party.
making vortex's with soda bottles & plastic cups
Perfectly round soap bubbles using the mad scientist's shower, bubbles, & dry ice
sublimation!  Dry ice fun.
Special worker company - our hearts were smiling this week
Trevin - has changed so much lately.  I need to do a post specifically on him.  He loves our Thomas the Train table and has quite an imagination while the trains zoom down the track.

I love this...and I also love watching our boys & their imaginations while they play together outside.

Flavor of the Month: Cranberry

I usually am a huge pumpkin fan at this time of year. However, I seem to have had a change of heart this year...I'm in love with cranberries! Dried cranberries in my salad, added to quinoa, cranberry tea, cranberry muffin scentsy bars, etc. Last week I made my absolute favorite cranberry sauce for our Thanksgiving dinner. Our family loves it.

Thanksgiving 2012

Our Thanksgiving was filled to the brim...I worked in the morning & left Russell in charge of the pie in the oven. Since it was 'apple', he didn't forget about it! The weather was undeniably wonderful...the kids did crafts outside, flew "Uncle" Bryan's hovercraft with his i-pad, blew/chased bubbles, played frisbees & had a grand time. It was extra special to have the workers with us too. We each wrote down something we were thankful for & then Talus read each one out loud. It was such a good reminder of all the blessings we enjoy. Now to carry that spirit of thankfulness throughout the coming days...

October: Part 2

October Activities: Part 1

October has been filled to be brim with wonderful things. I guess that's why I haven't updated in a while. October: Fall Break(1 week off from school!), MarathonKids run at the school(we all participated!), workdays (checking out fuzzy, furry spiders), worker company, reading to little brother, pumpkin painting, HEB grocery store tour, lots of outdoor playtime, wonderful convention days, picking out pumpkins at the pumpking patch, getting out the fall decor, donning winter jackets at Mountain Peak (our car temp read 38 degrees on Sat night!), warm drinks, fun in the kitchen.

Happy 7th!

Happy Birthday to our wonderful, sweet Benjamin. It feels like in a blink of an eye he went from being a teeny, tiny (4lb, 13oz) baby to a tall, curly headed boy(90th percentile for ht). This is a fun age & I love watching him grow & learn. I also love that he is the best big brother ever.

Let it Rain!

It's hard to get pictures of a little guy who is always on the go, always running, always talking, always 2 steps ahead of his mama. I never have trouble falling asleep these nights. Exhaustion kicks in. But it's good. He adds a lot of spice to life!

birthday surprises

On the day of Trevin's 3rd birthday, Trevin opened quite a few cards that had come in the mail. Hwas so enthusiatic with each card he opened. I loved watching his delight. We also had the wonderful surprise of having special friends over for supper. Jordan, Caleb & Mariah live in CA, so they were a long way from home & we sure appreciate the time they spent with us. It was a wonderful evening with friends!

Thanks to all the wonderful birthday wishes for our little boy! It was a great day/week for him.
