Got socks? Benjamin loves helping me fold clothes. This is usually what happens though...he ends up trying on all our socks!
Got orange? This is Benjamin's uniform - football, helmet (his winter cap on backwards), & flip flops. The shoes are a must.
Got cookies? Benjamin discovered a little step stool at Grandma & Grandpa's house. He pulled it right up to the counter, jumped up & went for the cookies! Grandma is helping him get one out!

Fun filled day with Jesse
Restaurant Guide - Galveston, TX
We loved...
Gaido's Restaurant - opened it's doors in 1911, the same year an aircraft landed on a ship for the first time.
Mosquito Cafe - "One bite is all it takes" - fresh, homemade, eclectic & trendy. We had a wonderful squash muffin & crustless quiche (with apples, peppers, onions, sausage). Check out their menu - it all looks so good.
p.s. Benjamin & I really didn't get out to each much, but these were places we had to tell you about!

Galavanting in Galveston
Benjamin & I enjoyed tagging along with Russ this week as he had a conference at the Moody Gardens Hotel/Convention Center on Galveston Island. His schedule was pretty full, however Benjamin & I enjoyed touring around on our own. Benjamin was fascinated by the penguins at the Moody Garden Aquarium. Walking along Seawall Blvd was nice - but very windey & a bit noisy from the traffic, hungry seagulls squawking & the ocean waves. The historic downtown part of Galveston had fun shops & this is where Benjamin learned to play chess. The beach was great - soft sand, quite clean & warm water. Considering our hotel room was paid for by Russ' company, it was a 'cheap' vacation!

Picture from a year ago...
Daddy & Benjamin (a little shy of the big mascot Spike. This year we talk about him all the time)
So, I've been tagged. Here we go...
1. I baked my first cobbler last weekend and it was delish! Fresh peach cobbler, candied ginger, cloves, etc. Yum!
2. I love weeding our garden & flower beds - I love the quiet time, the results, & for some reason it is relaxing to me.
3. I haven't eaten at McDonald's in years.
4. I worked as a physical therapist for over a year in the wound care department of a trauma hospital - cleaning, debriding, irrigating, dressing every kind of wound imaginable(snake/spider bites, burns, road rash, surgical incisions, stab/gunshot wounds). I rarely got sick from seeing it all. Still to this day I have to turn my head & close my eyes when I get my own blood drawn. I always feel faint, light headed & wonder if I'll be able to make it back to my car.
5. My favorite summertime drink is lemonade from Chick-Fil-A. However, I need to try this new recipe. It sounds quite good!
6. Some of you will NOT be impressed: The only sewing machine we own is a 1932 Domestic Rotary Sewing Machine. It is not functional, but it's a great antique!
7. I have a new job! In addition to have the best job in the world (staying home with little B), I'm going to start working Saturdays at a brand new 50 bed rehab hospital, no more than 5 miles from home, with the flexibility of working as many or as little hours as I choose, with great pay(but no benefits), & with some medical staff that I already know from other hospitals. I'm super excited!

From our garden...
The Rose
It is only a tiny rosebud
A flower of God's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.
The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I;
The flower God opens so sweetly
In my hands would fade and die.
If I cannot unfold a rosebud
This flower of God's design;
Then how can I think I have wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?
So I'll trust Him for His leading
Each moment of every day;
And I'll look to Him for His guidance
Each step of the pilgrim way.
For the pathway that lies before me
My Heavenly Father knows;
I'll trust Him to unfold the moments
Just as He unfolds the rose.
