Dallas!

During Benjamin's week long holiday break in November, we spent a bit of time in Dallas...enjoying a few places we've always wanted to take the boys:  NorthPark Mall's Train Exhibit, the Perot Nature & Science Museum, Reunion Tower, & more.

We're on vacation!  Trevin's cute little hand-me-down rolling suitcase from Hannah.

A travelling exhibit at the Perot Museum...so fascinating.  These animals were preserved by a technique called Plastination.  It took me back to all my Biology and A&P classes.  The boys loved it.

 A sheep's circulatory system

 3-D flying like a bird...Trevin loved it.
Engineering with Russell - building a lightweight bridge
Bright green frogs on a very chilly day
Playing with LEGOs while Mommy shopped.
Dallas skyline behind us, but it is too light to see very well.
Working a remote control helicopter in the Engineering lab

Benjamin raced against someone...can't remember who

November Part 2

Trevin bravely posing with the Round Rock High School Mascot!

The boys had a blast watching a local football game & watching Bryson & Alison playing in the band.
 Card/Letter writing has begun!
My sweet boy finding the tiniest of flowers for me.
The boys doing Kindle time...while Trevin is wear his armor to protect his legs.
Game night by a cozy fire.  We've had some cold days/evenings this fall.

November: Part 1

Rachel & Trevin comparing their violins/violas
 Our special sisters!
We loved watching this sunrise one crisp fall morning in November.  It reminded me of what we heard at convention...look eastward:  new each morning are His mercies, to new beginnings, to the eternal dawning of the endless day.

Sometimes a magnifying glass is required for Mr. Inspector eating Grandma's rolls
Lunch date with Daddy at Newks...yum!
All Region Orchestra Concert with Spencer.  Brought back so many memories for me!

Hamilton Pool Preserve

We had a fabulous fall hike with our wonderful friends last weekend.  We enjoyed it to the fullest...the mud, rocks, fall colors, perfect weather, water fall & creek.
Hiking with Trevin is not for the faint of heart...it takes a lot of skill & effort to prevent tumbles (because it was quite necessary to hike WHILE looking thru binoculars).  There was no slowing down to enjoy the scenery because someone had to keep up with the bigger boys.  And of course, there were many mud puddles to enjoy.

So thankful for the big plate of BBQ we enjoyed afterwards, I was famished!

Next weekend we need to get on our running shoes & at least pretend to get ready for our 5K run next month.

October: Part 2

At the end of October we made a trip to Trader Joe's to pick out of $2.99 pumpkins & other fall treats.  Trevin could not decide what costume to wear...there were just so many choices.  But he finally opted for Mr. Builder & he is now convinced THAT is what he'll be when he grows up (around 8!).  He'll ride in Papa's truck & go to work with him.  He's got a great plan in place.

Since we hadn't sang Happy Birthday to anyone in an entire month, the boys sang Happy Birthday to Andrea J with much enthusiasm.  It was so delightful to have Andrea & Rachel with us for a few days.  Talus warned Rachel that Trevin would become her biggest little fan....so very, very true.

Convention memories

The days went by like a blur.  The boys were so sad when convention was over.  Trevin couldn't believe that all the workers would actually leave & there would be no one there to keep Grandma company.  He is always so concerned about her.  So thankful for all the reminders of living for eternal things, that which matter the most, & focusing on those things that are ON the test.  Now it is time to get busy!

Happy to be together again

Supper & visit with Mr. Craig...loved hearing about MT, OR, & Mexico
