Progress!!

It's a great feeling to be making good progress.

1. Benjamin is doing so well with his violin. He had an outdoor concert today. It was a beautiful day & a great location with green rolling hills in the background.

2. No more dirty diapers around here!!! Hardly ever. Now we are working on using our words...like...."I need to go to the bathroom."

3. Trevin has transitioned to his big boy bed. He is quite proud to be in a big bed like Benjamin. It took him a week to realize he could get out (!).

4. I'm feeling so good since cutting out sugar. I'm reading a great book that has been an eye opener for me & has given me a huge boost in the right direction. I love being able to have *2 free* meals on the weekend. It helps me to stick with the right foods during the week. Tonight: Papa Murphy's thin crust chicken & artichoke delite! Yum.

5. Oh yes, & Benjamin's knee is healing nicely after his bike accident 2 weeks ago & then requiring stitches. The last part of his scab fell off today!

April 2010

I'm kinda sad that these cutie pies are growing up so fast! Honestly, where has the time gone?? [pssst, little Madelynne - we miss you!!!]

Spring Break Part 2

It was rather convenient that we were only a few miles from Sweet Berry Farms during our stay at Horseshoe Bay. So on the morning that we headed back home, we stopped for some fun picking & pet/animal therapy. The boys loved getting to see & pet the goats. They are cute!

My boys...

I love these boys & their smiles!

Spring Break 2012 Part 1

As with most things...Trevin adds an element of excitement & chaos to the situation. We had a fabulous time on this beautiful miniature golf course in Horseshoe Bay. Most of the time I was trying to keep Trevin out of the sand bunkers and the water. Halfway thru, he purposefully dropped his ball in one of the fountains. Luckily we recovered a ball someone had lost in the shrubs. Life is never dull.

Who needs golf lessons??
If the ball doesn't go all the way in, just pick it up & drop it in the hole!

Scouting out the next hole.

Saturday Steals...

Since this is a 'lazy' weekend for us, I got to do some bargain hunting today. I could have spent more time digging around other people's stuff but I don't need more clutter here. There is a lot of truth to 'less is more'.

However I did find...

a world globe for Benjamin's room - $6
brand new 15 lb dumbbells - $8 for the set
name brand CUTE skirts for me - $1 each

Now we're getting ready to have a garage sale of our own...sometime next month.

spring cleaning & house updates

I learned this past week that the best kind of spring cleaning is when I remove all pieces of furniture from a room & get busy! That's exactly what we did with the boys' rooms....in preparation for carpet removal & vinyl flooring installation. It was a lot of work on everyone's part. In the process, the crib disassembled itself (with a little help) and will soon find a new home. I'm not sure if I'm ready for that. In the process of cleaning & sorting, clutter was removed & I love how clean & simple the boys' rooms are now. Our goal is to keep it that way!

new floors....thank you, Papa!

little helpers

This picture says it all....the tiller was broken/in the shop, we tilled the garden by hand. Surprisingly my back didn't hurt afterwards(thank you, Jilian Michaels dvd). We had lots of fun. Every 30 seconds the boys thought they needed a different tool. Halfway thru, they were off playing in the sandbox. So then it was just Dad & I. Anyway, we've got some great looking tomato plants & pepper plants planted. My herb garden has been weeded & mulched. Benjamin remembered when we put down newspapers last year as weed block. He reminded Papa to get some newspapers this time to help distract the ants in the garden. I love the funny things he says.

2 and a half!

Trevin at 2 1/2! Full of life & speed. I guess it goes without saying, he's constantly trying to keep up with his brother. Everyone comments on how tall & big he is...there is just no stopping him. He eats like a champ & sleeps really well for the most part. In our upheaval during spring break (another post about that later), he has transitioned out of his crib & into the big boy bed. It cracks me up that he hasn't figured out that he can now get out of his bed. We always have to go in & get him when he wakes up. The day he discovers that new secret with come soon enough. He loves his big bed & has slept pretty well so far. Hope it continues.

A quick smile before heading out to Wed night meeting.
You can't beat a candle on a cinnamon muffin!
I love this smile...it's not one of his fake ones.
My little boy & I...I don't want him to grow up so fast!

Days with Grandpa Larry

I have a lot of catching up to do. Wow...this was back at the end of February. We loved having Grandpa Larry here for the weekend. We had a relaxing time. One of the highlights was taking him out to see some of his "old friends"....who just so happen to be my kin! We had a fantastic time with Uncle Jim, Aunt Gwen & Margaret. Seeing the "moo cows" was pretty special for Trevin.

Colors!

The trees are leafing & blooms are everywhere. I love this time of year and the fresh color that surrounds us.
