Sow a Seed

Sow a seed of kindness as you travel on your way.
Twill return a lovely blossom greeting you some future day.

Sow a seed of gentle patience, though sometimes it is hard to do
It will make your heart much lighter and will make you stronger too.

Sow a seed of all forgiveness and in due time you will find
Growing there sweet understanding, leaving bitterness behind. [author unknown]

Candles!

This month, both boys celebrated their "half" birthdays. It's a low key event around here, but we'd never turn down a chance to put candles in a cup cake/bundtlet, sing & blow out candles. It was so fun to watch *pure delight*. Trevin absolutely LOVES candles and I've sadly had to put most of my decorative ones away...even if they are not lit, they are a huge temptation & Trevin is not afraid to utilize his climbing skills to get to them. I'm reminding myself & Russell to enjoy everymoment...they won't be this small again [sniff, sniff]. But at the same time, it is so fun to see them growing/learning/exploring/discovering. My favorite word that Trevin has learned this week is bible (blubler).

Happy times around here...

Happy Spring!

On the first day of spring...
  • we went to Grandma's for meeting & lunch
  • we enjoyed colorful TX bloom in her kitchen
  • helped Mr. Delbert (Chase & Mason's Papa) celebrate his birthday
  • had a 'restful' day

Now we're ready for another week!

our privilege

It was an absolute joy to have these two with us after Special Mtg last Sunday. I'm so glad Benjamin had the opportunity to get re-aquainted with Ronda. Jennifer didn't have any "good stories" on Russell during their college days. She just mentioned how she appreciated getting rides to mtg in his little VW BUG. Good memories.

Recently...

Recently...

  • we did some spring cleaning/sorting/clutter removal & had a garage sale
  • our neighborhood trees & plants have awakened with abundant colors
  • our garden got tilled & is ready for planting!
  • special meeting brought us special visitors...a short, but sweet visit
  • we have NOT taken enough pictures of our kiddos...where is the camera??
  • I've been working 4 hours a day plus everything else I usually do...next week I'll be done!
  • our afternoon playtime has been outside...one boy rides his bike & the other wanders thru our yard to visit the neighbors

Yes, I love this time of year {sniffle, sniffle, sneeze}!

a wonderful surprise!

[picture from www.ourbestbites.com]

Have you hopped over & visited Our Best Bites??? If you haven't, you must!
I made this cake for my sweet sister's birthday (& Ryan's too) last week & it was wonderful!

So...today guess what came in the mail?? Their recipe book! Thanks, sis!

I feel like it must be my birthday today. I can't wait to try out their amazing recipes. I love how their recipes are family friendly, easy & super tasty. Just what we need around our house. I'm going to love the inspiration.

Can't wait to grab a cup of tea & leisurely browse thru my new book!
Thanks, Amy!!

something to remember...

Today was a long day & I was feeling particularly tired when Benjamin came to me and said,

"Mommy, I just love you with all my love."

It was so heartfelt & tender and made my burdens of the day so much lighter. I love this precious boy!

Happy Half Birthday Trevin!

1 1/2 years! Wow. Most look at him and wonder how he could be that young (yes, he's a big boy!) and I wonder how he could be that old! I love his new found independence yet am so sad to be leaving the baby stage.

Birthday presents...

Today he gave me lots of love pats as he hugged me and surprised me with his first slobbery, sloppy kisses on my cheek. It melted my heart. Today I'm keenly aware he'll never be this young/small again, so I'm savoring these moments. Tonight I'll give him extra Daddy time while I go to Mom's Night Out! When I get home we'll eat cupcakes & sing to him.

Sleeps...has 1-2 naps per day
Sleeps wonderfully in his own crib with pooh & bunny from 7pm to 7am; however our vacation was NOT restful. He was up every 2-3 hours at night & would wake up so early in the morning that Russell would take him to the beach to sit & watch the sun rise. Whew...tired parents!

Eats...mostly finger food but recently requested a spoon and surprised us all by eating applesauce from the bowl just like his big brother. The next day, half of his oatmeal & the bowl ended up on the floor, so eating still requires quite a bit of supervision.

Plays...
with everything from books, tractors, tinkertoys, appliances on the lower shelves of our pantry {loves those buttons}, cameras, cell phones, etc. Loves to be outside, however he has been known to wander over to the neighbor's house. I can't turn my back to him very long.

Recently discovered...
he can get a hold of anything by pushing a chair up to the counter, getting up on the chair, standing & then reaching for whatever he is NOT supposed to have.

Can speak...
10+ words & signs a little {I haven't taught him much}
[light, mama, dada, hi, ni-ni (night night), duck, up, nana]

Life is MUCH busier with him, however our hearts & home just wouldn't be the same without him!!

Smith's Cove

Smith's Cove - just south of Georgetown, an easy drive from our condo, with beautiful white sand & good snorkeling..

part of our group snorkeling

Playing in the sand...
Making a water run...
"What is this stuff on my hands?? It won't come off!"
It is so special to relive the memories!!! I was just thinking about 'a week ago' today...sitting in a different home, with people we hardly knew...yet having the same fellowship as we have here. Words don't describe that wonderful experience.

Stingray City

Benjamin had been looking forward to this cruise for a long, long time. We had seen stingrays before at aquariums, but had never been able to touch them or feed them. I secretly thought he'd back out, get scared, & view the stingrays from the comforts of the boat. Boy was I wrong! He showed absolutely no fear & loved wearing his snorkel mask to see them "flying" thru the water. They were amazing!

Damion & Benjamin....ready for the big adventure

We weren't the only ones at Stingray City!

Kissing the stingray for good luck!

Russell holding a big one...

beautiful homes & boats along the canal

the condo on 7 Mile Beach

The boys had a wonderful time playing in the pool & under the little cabanas on the beach of our condo. They made frequent trips to the water hose & ocean to get water & MORE water.

Supervising playtime...

Trevin loved the sand & got dangerously close to pouring it in his eyes...

View from our screened-in patio...

Beautiful!

a little glimpse

Here are 3 pictures (out of our 900+ pictures)...we have lots of sorting, cropping, etc to do. I editted out 1 head in Benjamin's boat picture & did an edge burn to the other. Otherwise, this is how it looked! The color of the water was amazing...

A tired little boy, but he put up with his mother's picture taking. This is a beautiful, little cove with great snorkeling around the rock seen in the distance. We could swim out from the beach.
Benjamin's first time to swim & snorkel in the deep ocean waters. He did great! And we saw some amazing fish. I don't ever remember snorkeling in such clear water. I could have stayed there all day!
just after sunset one evening...

Lots more to come...
