Weekend at the Lake

Russell's company had 'family day' at the lake on Saturday. It was an ideal day for swimming, relaxing by the lake, playing frisbee, eating Texas BBQ & enjoying time together.

Try Something New...

We should all try something new once in a while. Benjamin did on Saturday evening - he ate some fantastic Korean food using (little kid) chopsticks. It was so fun to watch him learn.

94 years

This was taken on Grandpa Ben's 94th birthday in Dec 2008. Benjamin insisted on wearing the birthday hat as part of the celebration. Great memories.

Anticipating a harvest...

Upon reflecting on the events of this week, I've been thinking about the harvest ~ the harvest/result of our life here on earth. There are so many examples in nature that teach us important lessons. (ie the heat of the summer - helping to ripen & sweeten the fruit before it is harvested) It has been good for me to work in our garden this week...to see the hope of a harvest, to remove weeds & stones, & teach our boy about seeds & life coming out of a seed that falls into the ground. I love our little garden...

Mother's Day

Benjamin had his first violin recital on Sunday. He did great & we were happy he didn't mind the audience. Amy & Damion have been here this past week. It made for an extra special day since we aren't together very often.

Our Grandpa

On May 8th our dear Grandpa Ben passed away. The following picture is one of the most precious pictures to me. It was taken several years ago at a family reunion. I wonder what they were visiting about as they sat alone on the couch in their own quiet world. Now both Grandpa Ben & Uncle Delbert are gone and it leaves a big hole in our family. We'll be forever grateful for their affect on our lives.

We'll never forget the last time they were together.

Boots for a Boy

It was great news to find out we're having a boy in September! Benjamin has enjoyed sharing our news..."I'm going to have a baby brother!" The ultrasound last week looked good & we are getting excited.
